PKNS prepares housing aid for Putra Heights blast victims

By Aida Nyan

SHAH ALAM, April 18 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) stands ready to provide temporary rentals to victims of the April 1 Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion.

PKNS group chief executive officer Dato’ Mahmud Abbas said the agency has discussed with the state administration the implementation of the initiative through the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

“We understand victims still have financial commitments, so we are offering those homes at prices below market value or below cost, and we do not take any profit,” he said.

Mahmud was met during PKNS’ Aidilfitri event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here last night.

He added that applications and offers for the rentals will be managed by the Selangor government and the LPHS.

He said PKNS will consider changing the offers to rent-to-own if victims want to keep the units.

Mahmud explained that the rental units are in Kuala Lumpur and Section 6, 7, and 13 in Shah Alam, and that the homes are apartments, condominiums, terrace units, semi-detached units, and bungalows.

Previously, he presented a contribution of RM1 million from PKNS to victims of the Putra Heights blast.
