Bursa Malaysia continues upward momentum at midmorning

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — Bursa Malaysia remained higher at midmorning on renewed buying interest seen across the board, in line with positive sentiment among regional peers.

At 11.06 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 24.11 points to 1,478.87 from Friday’s close of 1,454.76. The benchmark index had opened 19.29 points firmer at 1,474.05.

The broader market was positive with gainers thumping decliners 647 to 205, while 303 counters were unchanged, 1,228 untraded, and nine suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.47 billion shares worth RM772.69 billion.

Among the heavyweights, CIMB Group advanced 13.0 sen to RM6.78, Maybank added 10.0 sen to RM9.92, Public Bank rose 6.0 sen to RM4.30, Tenaga Nasional edged up 4.0 sen to RM13.26, while IHH Healthcare slipped 3.0 sen to RM6.77.

Among the actives, MY EG Services and NationGate advanced 3.0 sen to 93 sen and RM1.26 respectively, Tanco Holdings added 2.0 sen to 80 sen, Inari Amertron climbed 12.0 sen to RM1.78, while Bina Puri Holdings was flat at 34.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index climbed 169.80 points to 10,979.95, the FBMT 100 Index rose 171.38 points to 10,773.05, the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 180.58 points to 10,785.49, the FBM 70 Index soared 229.40 points to 15,495.3, and the FBM ACE Index gained 88.05 points to 4,500.24.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index surged 225.43 points to 17,759.96, the Industrial Products and Services Index added 3.88 points to 143.31, the Energy Index strengthened 10.21 points to 658.95, and the Plantation Index jumped 130.20 points to 7,192.73.
