KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam over five days starting on April 14, according to an announcement published on the official Facebook page of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia today.

The statement, quoting a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said that Xi will first visit Vietnam from April 14 to April 15 at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tô Lâm and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Lương Cường.

Following that, Xi will undertake a state visit to Malaysia and Cambodia from April 15 to April 18 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia.

According to a report by Bernama, on April 9, Madani government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Malaysia is set to welcome Xi from April 15 to April 17.

He said the Cabinet views the visit as highly significant in efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in trade.

“This visit is not only highly anticipated, but it is also part of Malaysia’s efforts as a trading nation to foster better trade relations with various countries, including China,” Fahmi said at a post-Cabinet meeting press conference.

Further details regarding the Chinese President’s visit would be announced by Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry.

China’s Xinhua news agency also reported the same announcement today, citing a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson in Beijing.
