SHAH ALAM, April 9 — All members of the Selangor State Executive Council, including senior officials, have contributed RM1,000 each to the Selangor Prihatin Fund (Tabung Selangor Prihatin) to aid victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that contributions also came from state assemblymen members, including those from the Opposition bloc, amounting to RM200 each, and RM100 from every local councillor.

Each civil service officer of Grade 48 and above also donated RM50.

“In total, the state’s civil administration has contributed RM102,050 to the fund, which will support recovery efforts currently being planned.

“This fund was established following requests from those wanting to contribute to the victims, and the funds collected will help cover various additional needs including rental and home repairs,” he said during a special press conference at the State Secretariat Building today.

For the record, the Selangor Prihatin Fund is an additional initiative on top of ongoing efforts to alleviate the victims' burden.

Donations can be made to CIMB account number 8604747531 under the name Bendahari Negeri Selangor, with the reference “Putra Heights.”

Meanwhile, Amirudin announced that a dedicated website will be launched tonight to provide details on available forms of aid for the victims.

“This website will outline all the types of assistance received by victims, including for cars, motorcycles, and cash donations. It will be accessible, and victims can directly submit applications through it.

“With this site, victims can check the status of their aid without needing constant updates, and it will also give technical teams more space to conduct thorough investigations,” he said.

The Petronas gas pipeline fire that broke out around 8.10am on April 1 sent flames more than 30 metres into the sky, with temperatures soaring to 1,000°C. It took nearly eight hours for the blaze to be fully extinguished.

The incident left 81 houses completely destroyed with structural damage exceeding 40 per cent, another 81 houses partially destroyed, 57 damaged but not burned, and 218 houses unaffected.
