Singapore, Malaysia, other Asean neighbours to strengthen cooperation amid uncertain times

SINGAPORE, April 5 — Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong held a discussion over the telephone yesterday regarding significant developments in the region, including the recent United States tariffs.

The two leaders also discussed the humanitarian situation in Myanmar following the earthquake that struck the Asean country last week.

"Singapore will continue working closely with Malaysia and other Asean partners to deepen regional economic integration and engage constructively with our global trading partners," Wong said in a Facebook post.

He added that in these uncertain times, it is more important than ever for Singapore, Malaysia, and other Asean neighbours to strengthen cooperation and solidarity.

Wong said he also conveyed his Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to Anwar during the call.

"I look forward to further face-to-face discussions when we meet for the Asean Summit in KL next month," he said.
