SUBANG JAYA, April 1 — The initial report on the gas pipeline fire incident at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, is expected to be received within 72 hours, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
The police and the relevant authorities will conduct a thorough investigation, taking into account all information circulating on social media.
“There is various information being shared, and it needs verification — we do not dismiss it outright. If there is any information, report it to the police and the fire department so that a comprehensive investigation can be carried out.
“We do not rule out any possibilities, but if you have information, do not speculate. All parties will be investigated, including the developer, local authorities, and residents.
“Let the police carry out a thorough investigation… perhaps within 72 hours, we will know the cause of the incident. I assure you that no one will evade responsibility, and for now, there is no need to establish a ‘task force’,” he said.
Speaking to the press during his visit to the temporary relief centre at Masjid Putra Heights' Multi-Purpose Hall yesterday, where victims were being housed, Amirudin said that 78 houses were completely damaged due to the incident.
327 vehicles were affected, and as a result, an area spanning 28 hectares, covering two localities — Taman Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru — had been closed for 48 hours for investigation, including assessing the habitability of the affected residences.
He added that the state government’s current focus is on saving lives, providing aid, and identifying the costs incurred by victims due to the incident.
“The Prime Minister has announced aid for the victims, and the State Government, along with the relevant parties, is now identifying all those affected.
“We will address this in the medium and long term, including temporary rentals, replacements, and home repairs,” he said.
Earlier in the day, during his visit to the area, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced RM5,000 in immediate assistance for homeowners whose properties were completely destroyed by the fire, as well as RM2,500 for over 100 homeowners whose properties were partially damaged.
