KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — The National Science Centre (PSN) will be temporarily closed to the public from March 1 to September 30 for maintenance and repair work on the roof structure.
Its director Mohammad Fuad Rahman said that although it is temporarily closed, the initiative to promote Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) will continue to be enhanced through various national-scale programmes nationwide throughout this year.
Among the programmes to be organised by PSN, an agency under the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry (Mosti), is the National Science Week Carnival 2025, an annual national-level carnival programme aimed at strengthening STI culture in Malaysia.
"Borneo Science Expedition 2025, a special programme under the SciTech4U initiative by Mosti, is also being held as a platform to engage students and rural communities in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan," he said in a statement today.
PSN will also hold the Ulul Albab Science Expedition 2025, an initiative for interactive science and Quran learning through an adventure approach.
The Malaysian Combat Robot Competition was also held, showcasing innovative designs and robot battles as a platform for developing students' talents in the fields of robotics and automation technology.
"The National RC Jet Contest was also held, which is an innovation competition aimed at promoting and cultivating STI, particularly among students in the field of aircraft design (aeromodelling)."
"School’s Out Kids In, which is an STI cultural programme coinciding with the school holidays, aims to add value to STI content for visitors and is also held alongside PSN Trooperz On The Move, an initiative to engage with the community through interactive science activities in various locations across the country," Mohammad said.
The roof repair work at PSN will be carried out by the Public Works Department to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors in the future.
