Floods in Sabah, Sarawak recovering; number of victims continue to drop

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 — The number of flood victims in Sabah and Sarawak continues to drop, with only 309 victims remaining at three temporary relief centres (PPS) in both states as of 8pm tonight, compared to 374 in the afternoon.

In Sabah, the State Disaster Management Committee reported that the number of flood victims in Kinabatangan continues to decrease, with 107 people from (29 families) remaining, compared to 169 people (43 families) as of 4pm today.

"One PPS in Kinabatangan was closed tonight, leaving only one PPS still open in the district," it said.

Meanwhile in Sarawak, the number of flood victims at two PPS in the Miri division has dropped to 202 people as of 8pm, compared to 205 people in the afternoon.

The State Disaster Management Committee reported that the two PPS are at the Beluru Community Hall, which currently houses 137 victims, down from 140 previously, and at SMK Bakong Beluru, which remains at 65 victims.
