Fewer evacuees as flood situation in Sabah, Sarawak improves

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 — The number of flood victims in Sabah and Sarawak dropped to 374 people as of 4pm today compared to 468 this morning.

In Sabah, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat said 169 people from 43 families are still placed at two temporary relief centres in the Kinabatangan district.

One temporary relief centre in Beaufort, which housed 33 people from 10 families, was closed this evening as the situation had returned to normal.

In Sarawak, the JPBN Secretariat said 205 evacuees are still sheltering in two relief centres in the Miri division.

Two centres in the Mukah division, namely the Mukah Youth Camp and the Mukah Community Sports Complex Hall that housed 49 victims, were closed at 11am today after the floodwaters had fully receded.
