SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin graced the closing ceremony of the Selangor State-Level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly for the year 1446H/2025 yesterday.
Their Royal Highnesses arrived at the Lecture and Islamic Discussion Hall of Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, where they were welcomed by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
Announcing the competition results, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the state-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, held from February 4 until yesterday, involved 52 participants from across Selangor.
“The participants were selected at the district level, and their talents were further honed and refined at the Selangor Al-Quran Literacy Academy to enhance their knowledge and skills in preparation for the Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Khairul Zaki Razali, 44, was crowned the champion of the Al-Quran Recitation and selected as the overall best participant, taking home a prize of RM20,000, a plaque, and a certificate.
The overall best participant for Al-Quran Memorisation from Juz’ 1 to 30 was awarded to Humairourrohmah Mastor, 22, who received a prize of RM15,000, a plaque, and a certificate.
Both winners were also chosen to represent Selangor at the national-level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, scheduled to be held from April 24 to May 3 in Perlis.
