SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — The state recorded a financial surplus of RM98.99 million last year, marking the highest savings by Selangor’s administration since 2017.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat information chief and Taman Medan state constituency coordinator Halimey Abu Bakar said this was achieved by reducing its operating expenditure, utilising only 98.07 per cent or RM1.554 billion of the total allocation.
He said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari also implemented cost-saving measures, spending just RM1.205 billion or 97.18 per cent of the allocated budget for development in 2024.

“The success of the Menteri Besar’s administration demonstrates Selangor’s ability to achieve even greater milestones in 2025.
“Baseless accusations and slander may be hurled by certain irresponsible parties to mislead the public, but data and facts cannot be distorted.
“These figures serve as a benchmark for the success of the Selangor government compared to previous administrations,” Halimey said in a statement yesterday.
In the 2024 Selangor Budget, the state government allocated RM2.53 billion, comprising RM1.33 billion (52.6 per cent) for operating expenses and RM1.2 billion (47.4 per cent) for development expenditures.
Meanwhile, he said Amirudin and the state administration exceeded financial targets, recording a revenue of RM2.858 billion as of December 31, 2024.
Among the main sources of revenue were land premium collections, which amounted to RM1.385 billion, surpassing its target by 55.53 per cent.
“The year 2024 ended with countless memories, and the Selangor government added a sweet finale by recording its best financial performance in seven years,” Halimey said.
Selangor recorded revenue collections of RM2.7 billion in 2023, RM2.5 billion in 2022, and RM2.3 billion in 2021, driven by positive economic growth and aggressive investment inflows.
