SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has allocated RM30,000 to assist 400 people in Sungai Buloh whose homes were flooded after a water retention bund collapsed.
Its head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the assistance, in the form of cooked meals, began being distributed yesterday, while food baskets are being sent to all victims.
“They were victims of the nearby reservoir bund that collapsed. Upon receiving information of the incident, Yayasan MBI promptly arranged food aid in collaboration with the local councillor.
“... The water has receded, and authorities are working on repairing the retention bund.
“This aid reflects the state government’s commitment to assisting victims and easing their burden,” he said when contacted.
Azri added that his team is ready to provide other forms of aid to flood victims.
“For now, we are focusing on food aid, but will consider other forms of aid if requested,” he said.
Yesterday, a water retention bund near Taman Seri Alam in Sungai Buloh collapsed, flooding the nearby residential area.
