SHAH ALAM, Dec 25 — Approximately 23,800 Jom Shopping vouchers worth RM200 each will be distributed in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration next month, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu,
The programme, aimed at assisting low-income and needy groups in 56 state constituencies, involves a RM4.76 million allocation.
“The distribution to recipients will be managed by the State Constituency offices and coordinators,” he said when contacted.
Papparaidu added that representatives and coordinators have been asked to identify and update the list of genuinely eligible recipients.
“I also urge representatives and coordinators to focus on those truly in need.
“Do not always give the vouchers to the same people every time. We need to look for new recipients or those genuinely eligible, and avoid making it a habit to give to the same individuals every year (who may no longer qualify),” he said.
In addition to Chinese New Year, the initiative under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang is also provided to underprivileged families for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali.
During the presentation of the 2025 Selangor Budget on November 15, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, announced that RM12 million will be allocated for the Jom Shopping vouchers next year.
