SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Selangor is reviewing and realigning several incentives, including the MamaKerja scheme, to ensure comprehensive distribution of benefits to residents.

State executive councillor for women empowerment Anfaal Saari said one of the considerations is providing incentives to nursery and kindergarten operators to support working mothers.

This is as the MamaKerja initiative will not be renewed next year.

“The MamaKerja incentive is a one-off initiative introduced in November 2023. For next year, no allocation has been provided for this incentive.

“As such, the state government will review several incentives for nursery and kindergarten operators to fulfil the same objective of supporting working mothers,” she told Media Selangor.

MamaKerja is an incentive that offers a one-off payment of RM1,000 to working women with three children under the age of 12 and a household income not exceeding RM8,000.

It was part of the state government’s manifesto in the last state election held in August 2023.
