SABAK BERNAM, Dec 16 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the Kebajikan dan Inklusiviti Teras Inspirasi (Kita) Run at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bagan Terap, Sungai Besar, this morning, spreading joy and unity among the participants.
In a charming nod to tradition, His Royal Highness, accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, embraced the event’s theme by donning a kain pelikat.
The Tengku Permaisuri, meanwhile, wore a kain batik.
“Their Highnesses graciously donned kain pelikat and kain batik in line with the event’s theme, adding to the festive atmosphere,” the Selangor Royal Office said in a Facebook post last night.
The royal family arrived around 7.30am and flagged off 2,500 runners participating in the 3km and 5km categories, which took participants through the scenic paddy fields of the village.
Demonstrating their closeness to the rakyat, Their Royal Highnesses and the Raja Muda also joined the participants on the route.
The event was also attended by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, and executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail.

After the event, Their Royal Highnesses made a stop at Sekinchan to visit the iconic Terminal Sekinchan.
They toured the site, which features a repurposed Boeing 727 aircraft currently being developed into a premium restaurant. Set amidst the paddy fields of Parit 5, the project is poised to become Sekinchan’s latest tourism attraction.
Their Royal Highnesses were also given a guided tour of the cabin and cockpit of the aircraft.
