KLANG, Dec 11 — Selangor has logged RM2.593 billion in revenue, as of Monday, 18 per cent higher than this year’s target of RM2.2 billion.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the success is evidence of the administration’s civil and administrative staff in increasing revenue and driving the state’s economy.

He said the achievement reflects the confidence of local and foreign investors, as well as the people’s trust, in the state administration to distribute wealth in an effective and targeted manner.

“I am pleased to say that Selangor’s economic development under Your Royal Highness continues to grow. Last year, Selangor’s contribution to the national gross domestic product rose to 25.9 per cent.

“This makes Selangor the first state in Malaysia to log an annual economic value of more than RM400 billion, that is, RM406.1 billion, in 2023,” he said after an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s 79th official birthday celebration at Istana Alam Shah here today.

Amirudin added that the second integrated circuit design park, being built in Cyberjaya, is set to grow economic value and create high-salaried jobs, especially for youth.

He said the project, which involves cooperation from the federal government and is in its final phases, will support an industrial export value of over RM100 billion by 2030.

“In the artificial intelligence field, Your Royal Highness’ government struck a deal with renowned company Google for the Sandbox-concept Gemini product to elevate the government service system and the values and capabilities of startups in Selangor.

“As I frequently say, it is important for the administration to improve effectiveness and service quality using new technology so it is more efficient for companies and industries that are looking to invest in Selangor,” he said.
