SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — The Certificate Readiness Assessment (CRA) launched by the state administration through HIS Toyyiba Sdb Bhd is set to raise its halal certificate issuance to 500 per year.

State executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah said the system will help applicants lower their risks of non-approval due to unfulfilled conditions in their bids for the Malaysian Halal Verification Certificate (SPHM).

“The CRA is an online self-assessment system for an organisation’s level of readiness before they apply for the SPHM. It was developed to assess all SPHM schemes based on the size of the applying organisation.

“As of September, 7,300 premises in the state have active halal certifications, with 2,705 being business firms,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

He added that the CRA will issue reports detailing improvements applicants must implement, in addition to cost estimates and how much time it would take to obtain the SPHM.

When tabling Budget 2025 on October 18, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Islamic Development Department will hire 100 more halal auditors to expedite the issuance of halal certificates.

Anwar said the MyeHALAL system will also be improved to centralise 20 government agencies and 100 foreign halal certification bodies.
