SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — Over 2,000 attendees were transported back to the 80s through the rhythms of Rentak Selangor 2024: Konsert Nostalgia Irama 80-an dan Evolusi Muzik last night.

Held from 10am to midnight at Wisma Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA), visitors were treated to a variety of exciting activities throughout the day.

The event, in collaboration with the Selangor State Media Organisation and MBSA, featured a 1980s-themed flea market selling vintage musical instruments, convenience stores, and coffee stalls.

Visitors were entertained by MBSA street musicians who played 80s-era songs, a keroncong performance by Irama Damai, and a screening of the film Rock 00 – Rimba Bara Kembali.

They also had the chance to participate in an 80s-themed karaoke competition and an 80s fashion contest.

Although it was primarily an entertainment programme, the state government took the opportunity to set up a free health screening booth through Selcare, offering basic health screenings, physiotherapy, dental check-ups, and pharmacy services.

By night, thousands of attendees gathered to enjoy the concert featuring several popular artists, including from the 80s.

They included Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Datuk Francissca Peter, Dato’ Malik Rizuan, and Zur Eda.

The event was further energised by 80s rock performances from Samudera and Slash, along with a special appearance by talented young artist Khai Bahar, who recently won the Anugerah Penyanyi Bintang Popular Berita Harian award.
