SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — The minimum wage will be hiked to RM1,700 from the current RM1,500, effective February 1, 2025, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

During the tabling of Budget 2025 in Parliament today, Anwar said companies with under five employees will be given until August 1, 2025, to exercise the new minimum wage rate.

He added that the Human Resources Ministry will publish guidelines for all sectors to ensure clarity for employees and employers on the new wage structure.

Additionally, the government will allocate RM200 million for its Progressive Wage Policy next year, set to benefit 50,000 employees.
