KEPALA BATAS, Oct 10 — The children rescued from premises linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) are progressing well in their studies after the Education Ministry (MOE) assumed responsibility for their education on October 1, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Fadhlina said she visited the safehouses where the children were placed, accompanied by MOE director-general Azman Adnan and MOE secretary-general Datuk Nik Nasarudin Mohd Zawawi.
“They are learning from our counsellors and we will ensure they can participate in direct and formal education through the modules we provided,” she told the media after officiating the National Education Management Conference closing ceremony here.
On September 23, Fadhlina said the education programme for the over 300 children rescued from GISBH would be carried out in two phases, with the first phase lasting two months and the second phase in the following month, if necessary.
