SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — The Second Series of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 opens October 16 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The four-day event will feature the Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage), or SIE F&B, Selangor Life Science Convention (SLC), and Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC).

SIE F&B will highlight its main exhibitor, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, which is set to hold a one-day forum on food security.

The Selangor International Halal Conference will also be held under SIE F&B, which is a platform for local and international companies to explore the regional halal market.

Meanwhile, SDEC is set to launch a session to present the state’s latest initiatives — integrated circuit design parks and Malaysia semiconductor drivers.

Other events of note are three main forums during the SLC subconvention, including the Selangor-Korea Sustainable Future forum, which will discuss bioagriculture technology and related fields.

Previously, state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said the second series of SIBS is targeting a transaction value of nearly RM1 billion.

Invest Selangor earlier said SIBS Series 1, held from July 25 to 27, produced a transaction value of RM12.2 billion, nearly twice the overall target of RM7 billion.

Comprising the Selangor Industrial Park Expo and Selangor Asean Business Conference, the extraordinary success drew over 8,500 visitors, including from countries such as China, Japan, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Asean member states.

During the First Series of SIBS, 23 letters of acceptance, letters of intent, memoranda of understanding and memoranda of agreement were signed.
