GISBH business outlets across Kota Bharu go dark

KOTA BHARU, Sept 26 — The Kota Bharu Municipal Council-Islamic City (MPKB-BRI) has confirmed that 19 business outlets operated by Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH) in the state capital are no longer in operation.

MPKB-BRI president Mohd Anis Hussein said that, according to records, GISBH had been operating the premises around Kota Bharu since 2010.

The premises involved the hotel sector, convenience stores, bakeries, laundry, restaurants, a training centre, and treatment centres.

"Based on records in the system, all these premises are licensed," he told Bernama today.

Anis added that based on inspections by enforcement personnel, the premises were believed to have closed following the arrest of GISBH's top leadership.

Some premises belonging to the owner or tenant removed their signboards because they did not want to be associated with GISBH.

On September 11, the police through Op Global rescued 402 children and teenagers from 20 charity homes linked to GISBH in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

The children were suspected of being victims of labour and sexual exploitation. The raid also revealed cases of neglect and abuse that led to the arrest of several individuals linked to GISBH.
