KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is monitoring social media for statements made by persons or groups in relation to GISB Holdings.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said this comes after recent revelations by individuals as well as current and former members associated with GISB.
Following this, a special team from Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked with overseeing social media activity related to the matter.
“We urge those with any disclosures or information to come forward and assist with the investigation,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Razarudin said investigations are ongoing following Op Global Phase 4, conducted across Peninsular Malaysia yesterday, which saw the arrest of 155 people and the rescue of 186 victims.
“Our focus remains on this issue before moving on to the next phase of the operation,” he said.
On September 11, raids were made under Op Global on 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan linked to GISB, which is suspected of child exploitation and promoting deviant teachings.
Since the operation, several people have taken to social media to share their personal experiences and perspectives on religious beliefs, including concerns over cult-like practices.
