PUTRAJAYA, Sept 22 — Institutions under the Education Ministry (MOE) affected by floods and designated as relief centres (PPS) will continue the learning process using the home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) method.
The ministry said schools will notify parents and guardians of the affected students about the matter.
“For students at PPS on school premises, the state education departments and district education offices have mobilised the Smart Support Team and Academic Support Team to assist students with counselling and learning,” it said in a statement today.
As of yesterday, five primary schools and one secondary school in Kedah were affected by floods, while 36 schools in three states are serving as PPS.
This includes 20 primary and 16 secondary schools, with 34 PPS opened in Kedah and one each in Penang and Perak.
“A total of 1,056 MOE students are still at school premises designated as PPS, while Perlis has fully recovered with all PPS closed,” it said, adding that the ministry is monitoring the flood situation to ensure the safety of its students and teachers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday the MOE will determine school sessions for institutions in Kedah, including the consideration of leniency for flood-affected schools.
