PUTRAJAYA, Sept 22 — The doctrine of GISB Holdings will be discussed during the upcoming sessions of the muzakarah committee of the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI), from Tuesday to Thursday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar shared this in a statement, posted to Facebook, yesterday.
He also expressed the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) full support for the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) enforcement actions, which have led to the arrest and prosecution of several GISB leaders and members, in line with the law.
“The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has provided full cooperation to assist the PDRM in the ongoing investigation. Jakim has also coordinated with state Islamic departments to align enforcement actions,” he stated.
Yesterday, the Perlis Fatwa Committee declared GISB’s teachings contain deviant elements, especially regarding their spiritual beliefs.
Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, said GISB’s beliefs are a continuation of the al-Arqam teachings, which were previously declared deviant.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Mufti Datuk Mohamad Sabri Harun and Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad both said the matter should be reviewed by the MKI muzakarah committee before any fatwa is issued.
