155 more GISB suspects nabbed, 186 victims saved

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — A boy, shown being whipped by a GISB Holdings member in a video that has gone viral, was among 186 victims rescued in Op Global Phase 4 yesterday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the victims saved in the early morning raid, run simultaneously at 82 premises in the peninsula, comprised 102 boys and 84 girls.

He said 155 suspects — 78 men and 77 women — were arrested in the raid at GISB-linked premises including welfare homes, business fronts, clinics, religious schools, and private homes.

“(Op Global) Phase 4 was carried out to track down remaining members involved with GISB. It involved 3,801 personnel, comprising 2,528 from the Royal Malaysia Police and 1,273 government agency staffers.

“Among the agencies involved were the Health Ministry, Social Welfare Department, Islamic Development Department, Chemistry Department, and National Registration Department,” he said in a statement today.

Razarudin said during the operation, police seized several leaflets containing information that contradicts true Islamic teachings.

He said those arrested are being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.

Razarudin said during the raid, some premises were empty, with GISB members believed to have fled after previous police raids at premises linked to the company.

Meanwhile, Razarudin urged those who have fallen victim to GISB or with information related to the case to come forward to assist the investigation.
