Malaysia, Brazil reaffirm commitment to boost bilateral ties at inaugural consultation

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Malaysia and Brazil reaffirmed their strong commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including the halal industry, trade, and investment, underscoring their shared vision for enhanced economic and strategic partnerships.

The Foreign Ministry said this commitment was highlighted during the inaugural Malaysia-Brazil Bilateral Consultation, hosted virtually by Malaysia yesterday.

“During the consultation, both sides reviewed the current state of Malaysia-Brazil relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including trade and investment, the halal industry, energy, the environment, agriculture, health and sustainable development.

“Both sides also deliberated on regional and multilateral issues of common interest, including the Palestine-Israel conflict, Russia-Ukraine conflict, Malaysia’s application to join Brics, Asean-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025, and Brazil’s hosting of the G20 in 2024 and COP30 in 2025,” the ministry said in a media advisory.

The session was co-chaired by Foreign Ministry deputy secretary-general (bilateral affairs) Datuk Ahmad Rozian Abd Ghani and Brazil Foreign Affairs Ministry secretary of Asia and the Pacific Eduardo Paes Saboia.

Senior officials from the respective foreign ministries and other key government agencies of both countries also participated.
