KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — Companies from various participating in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) 2024 via the Selangor Pavilion have the opportunity to expand their products' export potential.

Halal International Selangor (HIS) Toyyiba Sdn Bhd general manager Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali said that Mihas, recognised as the world’s largest halal trade exhibition, provides an excellent promotional platform, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises in Selangor.

Covering various segments such as food and beverages, logistics and warehousing, and cosmetics, seven companies were brought to the Selangor Pavilion this year.

"This time, compared to last year, we have brought seven companies, and perhaps four entrepreneurs will participate in Mihas@Dubai in November, as Mihas has already expanded to the international stage.

"Business matching sessions and engagements with various parties at Mihas will open up wider opportunities for entrepreneurs to elevate their products and services.

"It also provides a space for entrepreneurs and companies to gain up-to-date information and the latest research on halal, like the halal traceability system," he said.

Syaril is also promoting the upcoming Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) 2024, which runs from October 16 to October 19, aiming to attract more participants.

"Our booths are already nearly 80 per cent sold, and this year Selhac will focus on enhancing halal certification processes, halal digital innovation, and the halal supply chain.

"In the future, we plan to hold Selhac alongside Mihas to expand the market and reach a broader audience," he said.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim signed the plaque for the official opening of the Selangor Pavilion during his visit to the exhibition booth at Mihas 2024, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

This year’s exhibition is expected to attract over 40,000 trade visitors and feature 2,000 exhibition booths, including the Selangor Pavilion, alongside exhibitors from 45 countries.

Now in its 20th year, Mihas 2024 is unique as it introduces 14 new clusters, including sustainability and halal ingredient content.
