SERDANG, Sept 16 — The One House, One Crop initiative reflects the National Farmers’ Organisation’s (Nafas) aim to promote urban agriculture through the introduction of the Urban Farming Kit to the public.
Nafas Agri Services Sdn Bhd assistant manager Abdul Khaliq Rahim said the kit aims to simplify the process for urban families to grow vegetables at home.
Priced at RM40, the kit includes all components for home vegetable cultivation, such as plant containers, soil, seeds, and Nafas’ 15/15/15 fertiliser.
“We aim to encourage every household to grow at least one plant. Not only is this a sustainable practice, it can also help offset living costs,” he explained.
“With this kit, people will find it easy to grow their own vegetables at home, as it contains varieties that are simple to cultivate and maintain.”
He said this at the Urban Farming Kit demonstration at the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Show (Maha) 2024 here today.
Abdul Khaliq said the kit includes seeds for five types of vegetables: dwarf bok choy, white stem bok choy, green round amaranth, Chinese kale, and looseleaf lettuce.
The kit supports three to four crop cycles, with each cycle taking about a month to mature and be ready for harvest.
During Maha 2024, people can buy the kits at RM35 at Nafas until September 22.
“The kit is also available for purchase at the Nafas headquarters, the Nafas Marketing Shopee page, and through appointed agents,” he added.
