SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — Selangor Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has confirmed the Section 7 lake here is safe and no other crocodiles have been spotted in the recreational area.
Selangor Perhilitan director Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh said close monitoring via night vision drones and surveillance did not reveal the presence of other reptiles after a copper (saltwater) crocodile spotted at the lake was trapped.
“The two crocodile traps installed since the presence of the reptile was detected on September 4 were removed on Saturday, and the operation was completely terminated,” he told Bernama.
Adib said the crocodile, 1.68m long, was confirmed to be disease-free (after quarantine) and has been released at Paya Indah Wetlands in Dengkil.
He said no investigation paper was opened, but Perhilitan has not ruled out the possibility that the crocodile was in the freshwater lake either because it was swept in during a flood or was released by a reckless party.
