SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — A bus owned by the Selangor State Secretary’s Office with 21 people on board crashed in Banting today, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to a preliminary incident report released by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the bus crashed into a 2m ditch on a road between Kampung Kelanang and Taman Dawai, causing it to overturn.
The department said a motorcycle was also involved in the accident.
Among the victims, two men and four women were seriously hurt, while the other 15 suffered minor injuries.
The bus driver is trapped in his compartment, and a rescue operation is underway.
“Those seriously injured have been transported by Health Ministry personnel for medical treatment,” the report said, adding that the situation is under control.
According to the report, the department received a call about the incident at 1.07pm, with 11 personnel from the Banting and Telok Panglima Garang fire and rescue stations arriving at the crash site at 1.18pm for the rescue operation.
It is understood the bus was ferrying state civil servants to a course.
