HULU LANGAT, Aug 12 — The Kajang constituency office has launched the “Kajang Bersih, Kajang Di Hatiku” campaign to promote environmental awareness among the local community.
Assemblyman David Cheong said that initially, the campaign will be held in Kajang schools to instill the importance of cleanliness among students.
“Cleanliness and comfort are crucial elements we must maintain to ensure that Kajang continues to develop as a peaceful and beautiful place to live.
“This campaign is not just an effort to clean up urban areas, villages, or housing estates but also to encourage recycling initiatives that can become a source of income,” he said in his speech at the campaign launch, which was officiated by the prime minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, at SMK Saujana Impian here today.

In addition to addressing welfare issues, flooding, waste management, road damage, and traffic congestion, Cheong said his duties as a state representative covers various other aspects.
“I must also take responsibility for other issues, including environmental cleanliness, health, and education,” he said.
During a press conference, Cheong announced that the dusky leaf monkey, a species whose dwindling population can still be found in Sungai Long forests, was chosen as the campaign mascot.
Meanwhile, Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan said the campaign can foster a sense of responsibility for cleanliness within the community.
“Kajang is a constituency within Bangi that records a high number of dengue cases, so initiatives like this can help curb the spread of the disease,” he said.
