PUTRAJAYA, Aug 4 — Malaysians residing in or travelling to the United Kingdom have been urged to avoid protest areas, remain vigilant and follow updates and guidance provided by local authorities.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry issued the urgent notice to Malaysians there today after a series of protests in several areas of the United Kingdom, following a stabbing in Southport on July 29.
“Malaysians who have not yet registered with the High Commission of Malaysia in London are strongly encouraged to do so immediately to ensure they receive timely information and assistance,” the statement read.
The ministry said Malaysians requiring consular assistance can contact the High Commission of Malaysia in London at 45-46 Belgrave Square, London, the United Kingdom, telephone +44 20 3931 6196/+44 20 7235 8033, or email [email protected].
The ministry said it, through the High Commission of Malaysia in London, is closely monitoring the situation and will strive to keep the public informed of any developments.
