KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — The public has been invited to attend a Palestine liberation rally at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here on Sunday.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil in a Facebook post said the rally, set to start at 8pm, will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Everyone is invited. Himpunan Pembebasan Palestin to be graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. We will see you this Sunday!” he said, attaching a poster of the rally.
Yesterday, Anwar said the gathering is aimed at sending a strong message to the world that Malaysia condemns the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, and will continue to support Palestine.
Haniyeh, who was also former Palestine prime minister, was reportedly killed in an airstrike targeting his residence in Tehran, Iran, in the early hours of July 31. He was there to attend the inauguration of Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian.
On October 24 last year, a Solidarity with Gaza gathering was held at the National Mosque here, which saw political leaders coming together to show solidarity and support for Palestinians.
