PUTRAJAYA, July 28 — The 29th Epidemiological Week (ME29) from July 14 to 20 saw 317 dengue cases and four deaths, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan.

He said the new cases brought the cumulative total this year to 2,690, with the death toll at six.

The number of hotspots in ME29 dropped to 94 from 100 the previous week with 71 in Selangor, six each in Perak and Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya, four each in Negeri Sembilan and Kedah, two in Sabah and one in Kelantan.

“For chikungunya, four cases were recorded in ME29. The cumulative number of chikungunya cases to date is 58.

“For zika, 1,505 blood samples, eight urine samples and three cerebrospinal fluid samples were screened and the results were all negative,” he said in a statement today.

He called on all quarters to organise regular community clean-ups and make the “One Hour Malaysia Clean Up” a monthly activity for a cleaner, dengue-free environment.
