KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on the King’s installation today.
“May Allah bless His Majesty’s reign to continue to be at the highest position in the country's Constitution, in line with the function of the royal institution as a protector of Islam and a symbol of unity and well-being of all races in the country,” he said in a Facebook post.
Anwar also expressed unwavering obedience and loyalty to the institution of the Constitutional Monarch on behalf of all Malaysians.
The Installation Ceremony of the 17th King of Malaysia at Istana Negara was attended by about 700 guests, including Malay rulers, governors, Cabinet members, as well as foreign leaders and dignitaries.
Sultan Ibrahim took the oath of office as the 17th King of Malaysia on January 31.
