WASHINGTON, July 16 — The Republican Party officially nominated former President Donald Trump as its 2024 nominee yesterday, just two days after he survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, Anadolu Agency reported.
Trump reportedly crossed a key threshold during a procedural counting of Republican delegates yesterday afternoon, during the four-day Republican National Convention, making him the official nominee.
Just moments prior, Trump announced Ohio Senator JD Vance will be his running mate in the November national election.
“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of vice-president of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump said on his proprietary Truth Social website.
Vance has yet to officially comment.
