PETALING JAYA, July 10 — Safety aspects are a priority throughout the Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC) match at Stadium Merdeka on August 17, said its chairman and manager Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar.
To this, 2,000 security personnel, including the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur police, have been assigned to prevent any untoward incidents.
“The Selangor and Kuala Lumpur police will strengthen the security team…an estimated 2,000 personnel will be on standby.

“Currently, safety is a priority, and we will not compromise,” he said during the TSSC promotional tour and ticket handover at the Petaling Jaya City Council yesterday.
Commenting further, Karim said the upgrade works on Stadium Merdeka for the tournament will be fully completed by the end of this month.
“We are monitoring the stadium repair works and looking at the latest developments; everything will be completed by the end of July.
“At present, the painting processes are underway, and the field is in good condition and is being fully monitored,” he said.
The prestigious tournament involving traditional matches with Singapore will be held again on August 17 being postponed for four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some 20,000 spectators are expected to enliven the match, with tickets sold for as low as RM10.
Selangor won the TSSC nine times: in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2019.
Meanwhile, Singapore won the title seven times: in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, and 2017.
