Education Ministry to reevaluate PAJSK data on 2023 SPM candidates

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — The Education Ministry (MOE) will be conducting a reevaluation of the Physical Activity, Sports, and Co-Curriculum Assessment (PAJSK) data of 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students who had their PAJSK scores dropped.

The data will be handed over to the University Central Unit (UPU) for the purpose of matching and offering further studies subject to candidates according to qualifications and programme vacancies.

"The Education Ministry takes a serious view of the issue of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysian (SPM) graduates who had their PAJSK scores dropped.

"Immediate action has been taken to re-assess the PAJSK data of affected candidates," it said in a statement today.

MOE is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter and implementing intervention measures to resolve it and ensure that the same issue does not recur in the future.

For the record, SPM graduates who applied to continue their studies through the UPU system will see the merit score calculation include 10 per cent of the co-curriculum score in addition to the exam results.

Recently, it was reported that PAJSK marks for SPM graduates were left empty, resulting in some students failing to apply to continue their studies at higher education institutions or receiving offers that were not their first choice.

Among them, a student guardian claimed that his son failed to get first choice after the results of the UPU application for SPM graduates 2023 were announced on May 27.
