PUTRAJAYA, July 6 — Malaysia aims to retain its position in the top 10 of the Global Peace Index (GPI) next year, said Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He said his ministry, through the Royal Malaysia Police, will undertake various efforts to achieve this target.
“We aim to retain this top 10 position, and the police will closely examine all indicators that contribute to the index reading,” he told a press conference after flagging off Police Day Run participants here today.
Saifuddin Nasution said the GPI ranking should be prioritised as a high rank will serve as an incentive for investors to come to Malaysia.
“Why is it important for us to pay attention to the GPI? Because investors look at such indices before they decide to invest their billions. They want assurance of peace and public order,” he said.
On June 15, the media reported Malaysia had climbed nine places in the GPI 2024 to 10th place.
