SHAH ALAM, July 1 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has allocated RM250,000 to help address longstanding flash flood issues affecting residents in Taman Kinrara Section 2, Puchong.

Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han said this came after MBSJ identified the area as a flash flood hotspot.

“The (mitigation) project includes constructing a new 185m flood wall, with a height of 1.2m.

“The project is expected to be completed by September,” he said in a post on X late last night.

The flood wall will be constructed along the drain adjacent to a housing area that connects to Sungai Klang.

“This project will bring relief to residents and protect the Taman Kinrara Section 2 community from future flash floods.”

Taman Kinrara, particularly Sections 1 and 2, is prone to flash floods due to their proximity to Sungai Klang.

A check on the Selangor State Legislative Assembly website found Ng had raised the issue as far back as 2014, highlighting Taman Kinrara Section 2 residents’ nearly 20-year plight.

The state government responded saying that among the main causes of flash flooding there was sediment build-up along the outdated drainage system.
