SHAH ALAM, June 26 — The state government, via the Selangor Sports Council, has launched the Selangor FC Solidarity Fund to seek justice for the embattled club, starting tonight until July 2.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the fund's proceeds from these contributions will be handed over to the club to assist them in fighting for justice at the highest level against the excessive punishment imposed by the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
"Football, which has long been celebrated as a sport that unites the people, is now tainted by elements of violence and excessive regional fanaticism, leading to division within the community.
"It aims to provide an opportunity for all Malaysians and football fans across regional boundaries to show their support for Selangor FC with a small RM1 contribution to the fund," he said in a statement today.

Najwan was referring to the recent controversial decision by the MFL to fine Selangor FC RM100,000 after it decided to forego the Charity Shield Cup match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on May 10.
MFL also deducted three points from Selangor FC in the Malaysia Super League, ordered them to compensate both it and JDT, as well as requiring the club to play their home league game against JDT behind closed doors.
The councillor also thanked the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj on behalf of the state government for His Royal Highness' firmness and sensitivity towards the various issues and injustices faced by Selangor FC.
"May this initiative drive the participation of all those who share the vision and aspiration to restore football as a sport that fosters harmony and unity among the people," Najwan said.
The club pulled out of the match against JDT out of concern for its players’ safety after its star winger Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim was left severely injured in an acid attack by unknown assailants at a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya on May 5.
