BANGKOK, June 17 — Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin confirmed that he tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

He announced on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that he would be taking sick leave due to the diagnosis.

"I have been feeling unwell since last week and developed a slight fever, so I decided to get tested for peace of mind.

"I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to my colleagues and clients who have been in close contact with me recently," Srettha said.

The Prime Minister assured that he will recover and return to work as soon as possible.

According to his X account, Srettha had been visiting Hua Hin, including its railway station and airport, over the weekend.
