Industry Excellence Award 2024 sees almost 100 pct increase in participation

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — The Industry Excellence Award (AKI) has expanded by nearly 100 per cent this year, with 153 companies taking part, according to Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said the number of participations received by AKI in 2024 was higher than the 78 companies that participated in AKI in 2020.

“Overall, the export revenue of all these companies is approximately RM4 billion. Although this figure is not that big, we believe these companies have great potential to increase their respective exports in the future.

“This AKI is a platform for the government to recognise companies that excel in management practices, product quality and services and always provide added value to their respective stakeholders,” he said at the AKI 2024 ceremony here last night.

Tengku Zafrul stated that the AKI 2024 competition includes 13 categories, including the Manufacturing Sector Excellence Award; Service Sector Excellence Award; Open Category Excellence Award; Most Potential Company Excellence Award and Industry4wrd Excellence Award.

“A new award was introduced this time which is the ESG Excellence Award and one company will be selected and honored as the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award, the highest and most prestigious recognition awarded by the Malaysian government to the industry,” he added.
