SHAH ALAM, June 6 — Selangor is in the process of finalising the list of athletes that will represent the state during the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak next month.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the Selangor contingent’s preparation level is currently at 85 per cent, and efforts are intensifying to ensure it secures a top-three finish.

“We are quite prepared. We are 85 per cent ready now. We have also visited Sarawak to inspect our logistical preparations there.

"At the same time, we are finalising our list of athletes and doubling our efforts with training,” he told SelangorKini after distributing aid to fire victims in Bandar Nusa Rhu today.

The 21st Sukma is scheduled to be held in Sarawak from August 17 to August 24.

In March, Najwan informed the State Legislative Assembly that 1,138 athletes are expected to represent Selangor in the games, competing in 37 different sports.

Meanwhile, he said that his Kota Anggerik state constituency office will distribute eight cows and 20 goats in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

The distribution will be primarily carried out in densely populated areas where most residents are low-income as part of the goal of assisting the needy.

"We will also distribute to mosques and suraus that did not receive assistance last year,” Najwan said.
