Ulu Tiram attack: Funeral prayers for two slain policemen held Johor IPK mosque

JOHOR BAHRU, May 18 — The funeral prayers for Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, who were killed in an attack at the Ulu Tiram police station yesterday, were held at the Johor contingent police headquarters’ Masjid Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil this morning.

Their remains were taken in a van from the Sultan Ismail Hospital and arrived at the mosque at 9.20am. Post-mortems were performed on the remains last night.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, together with hundreds of congregants consisting of officers and members of the Royal Malaysia Police as well as the family members of the fallen policemen performed the funeral prayers, led by Johor Bahru district Imam Mohd Nazri Ali.

In the 2.45am attack yesterday, three were killed, namely Azza Fahmi, Syafiq, and the 21-year-old prepetrator.

Another policeman, Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan, was also injured in the incident and is being treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
