HULU SELANGOR, May 5 — The Youth and Sports Ministry is collaborating with the Orang Asli Development Department to increase the Orang Asli community’s potential in sports.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said improving facilities and access to sporting amenities in Orang Asli villages is among the government’s priorities.

“Meeting Orang Asli youth here, (I see) the men are involved in football and women are involved in badminton.

“We must consider how they live and which sports they like. There is no use introducing new sports in which they have no interest. Football clinics are popular here, maybe next time (we will hold one for) badminton,” she said.

She was met as she accompanied the Unity Government’s candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, Pang Sock Tao, to meet around 30 Orang Asli youth from Kampung Buluh Telur at the Beting Rimbayu campsite in Kuala Kubu Baharu here today.
