Asean countries discuss plans for financial cooperation

VIENTIANE, Feb. 22 — Representatives from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and the Asean Secretariat have reviewed the work of a key committee on financial cooperation and outlined strategic plans for the years ahead, reported Xinhua.

The representatives gathered in Lao capital Vientiane for the 78th meeting of the Working Committee on Financial Services Liberalisation (WC-FSL), according to a report issued by Laos' central bank, the Bank of the Lao PDR, on Thursday.

During the meeting held on Monday, officials in charge of the WC-FSL highlighted the progress in the body's activities, including key initiatives in the finance and banking sector, and the Asean Economic Community strategic plan.

They also focused on key performance indicators for financial integration, crucial areas related to financial liberalisation under the Asean Framework Agreement on Services, and the Asean Trade in Services Agreement.

The meeting also reviewed the status of the annual priorities for 2023-2024, and key priorities for capacity initiatives, especially for the green economy and the digital economy, according to the report.
