KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 — Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan held bilateral meetings with Lao Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son in Luang Prabang, Laos.

In a Facebook post, he said the meetings, which were held separately after the Asean Foreign Ministers’ (AMM) Retreat yesterday, touched on various matters, including strengthening cooperation between Malaysia, Laos, and Vietnam.

According to the Lao News Agency (KPL), during the meeting between Mohamad and Kommasith, both sides expressed high appreciation for the friendship and good cooperation between Malaysia and Laos since diplomatic relations were established in 1966.

Simultaneously, the two Foreign Ministers also unanimously agreed to continue to promote existing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, digital, finance and tourism, as well as continue to support each other to promote cooperation and development in the regional and international arenas.

Mohamad led the Malaysian delegation at the AMM Retreat from January 28 to January 29, in Luang Prabang, Laos.

The AMM Retreat was chaired by Kommasith, with the participation of Asean Foreign Ministers, the Asean Secretary-General, and the Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste as an Asean Observer.
