KUCHING, Jan 23 — The Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal has appointed three key panel members, who commenced their duties in December last year, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, here today.
Revealing the significant development, she added that the appointments cover the crucial roles of President, Deputy President, and Secretary.
"The appointees (panel members) are experienced and competent in handling sexual harassment cases.
"Since the office building is still under renovation and their services need to be expedited, we (the ministry) have provided temporary office space at our building in Putrajaya," she told reporters after the Back to School programme at Kampung Tanjong Bako.
Nancy said an additional two members will be appointed later from Sabah and Sarawak, respectively, to facilitate the management of cases in the two states.
"I personally requested representatives from Sabah and Sarawak as well. The Attorney General's Department will select individuals qualified and suitable to hold the positions," she said.
On October 10, the Public Service Department (JPA) greenlit the creation of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal, designed to complement the legal system by offering a streamlined, speedier and cost-effective platform for handling sexual harassment complaints.
